Who's Speaking at SpringCon 2020?

There's a great line up of speakers this coming June at SpringCon 2020; You'll be hearing from some of the biggest organisations in the industry with some very interesting and thought provoking presentations.

We will be joined by Martin Bauer, the Technical Sales Manager at Wafios, who will be speaking about their eMobility applications. We'll also hear from Pieter Ghekiere, Segment Mgr - Automotive & Equipment EMEA at Bekaert about how C.A.S.E and future mobility will reshape spring wire needs. June Smith, the Regional Affairs Manager for Yorkshire & Humber from MakeUK will be discussing the impact of Brexit, as well as speaking about skills gaps in the manufacturing industry.

The Head of Global Product Management at Winoa Group, Joan Samuel, will be presenting a new cut-wire technology for a more cost-efficient shot peening process. Joan tells us "Nowadays, as for any kind of manufacturing industry, the spring industry is seeking for more cost-efficient manufacturing processes, without compromising on quality and performances of the finished goods. Indeed, in the context of a global economy and strengthening overseas competition, the pursuit of this goal is not an option but a necessity."

From IST, Dr Conor McCaughey will be presenting an update on current and future research. The talk will focus on the continuing research being conducted at IST into nitrided springs. The aim of which is to be able to include two new materials into Spring Calculator Professional (SCP) in both the nitrided and un-nitrided form. Allowing spring designers to be able to see the benefits of nitriding and confidently predict the life of nitrided springs for their customers. Although testing is still ongoing, data produced so far is already showing the benefits of nitriding with regards to the life of a spring. The talk will also include the launch of a new scheme of fatigue testing, the aim of which is to have a constant feedback loop of data to supply to IST and SCP.

This is the 4th biennial conference run by IST and has proved to be a hit with manufacturers, suppliers and end users alike. The conference provides many opportunities for professional networking throughout and will give an in-depth view of the global spring industry as it is today.
