Once again the spring industry came together for the annual IST Golf event, this year we celebrated the event’s 20th anniversary. The event took place at the fantastic Walmley Golf Club in Sutton Coldfield and saw 59 golfers on the tee! It was the biggest IST golf day event we have had since it started back in 2007, so a huge thank you to each and every one of you who has supported this event over the years, it simply wouldn’t go ahead without your support! 80 Years of Advanex

IST would like to congratulate Advanex on their 80th year of precision engineering excellence. Originally started in 1937, Advanex (formerly GE Haywood Spring Manufacturer) began producing valves for domestic, textile markets. Since then, the business has had various trading names, including Entex Springs, and has grown from a 2 man operation to a multi-site, world class manufacturer employing over 180 people in the Nottingham area. Staff Profile – Paul Batty Each edition we will be putting a member of the IST team through their paces and asking them a variety of questions, not all business related to try and attempt to get to know them a little better. So Paul, its over to you… your turn in the hot seat. What is your role within IST? Testing Services Manager Where were you born? Born and Bred in Sheffield! What does a typical day look like for you at IST? Still today after 25 years here at IST, each and every day is different.  I do not know what will be landing on my desk.  Whether that be a spring failure that requires an investigation, to fatigue test springs, along with communicating with customers both existing and potential. What do you like to do outside of work? Spending time with my family Is very important to me, and most weekends we spend at the caravan which is on the east coast at Chapel point. What football team do you support? Sheffield United! Do you play any sports? Twice a year I swing a golf club! What music is on your iPhone/Android phone? Wire and Tube Technology Training Centre

Many of you will know of Michael Bunegar and the vast knowledge and experience he brought to the industry. Sadly, Michael passed away just under two years ago but his legacy lives on and with this in mind, we are pleased to advise that Wire & Tube Technology are opening a Training Centre and Showroom at the Rubicon Centre which will be known as “The Michael Bunegar Training Centre” and will include F3 CNC Compression Spring Machine and FUL 16 CNC Compression Spring Machine which will be used for training Springmakers of the future. The official opening will take place on Friday 24th March from 12.00 Midday at the Rubicon Business Centre, 17 Broad Ground Road, Lakeside, Reddith, Worcs, B98 8YP   On display will be some Wafios Machinery including an F3 CNC compression spring machine and Ful 16 CNC Compression Spring which will be used in the training of future Spring makers. The official opening will be carried out by Karen Lumley MP for Redditch.
