IST announces its Training Course Programme for 2012
Following the exceptionally high level of interest in our open training courses throughout 2011, IST are pleased to announce that for 2012 we will be staging each course twice, giving the industry even more options to attend. Designed to help you gain the Leading Edge in Spring Technology, our open courses take place at our Sheffield Headquarters, where delegates will have the opportunity to see spring design and testing in action through a tour of IST’s facilities. Attendees also have the opportunity to interact with other delegates from within the spring industry supply chain.
The dates for the 2012 Training Course Programme is:
Spring Materials Selection & Basic Spring Design

18th, 19th & 20th September 2012
Spring Manufacturing Technology
24th, 25th & 26th April 2012
9th, 10th & 11th October 2012
Advanced Spring Design & Failure & Prevention

Engineering Announcement
Following a number of significant orders received by IST's test machine service, we have decided to increase our capacity and technical development capability. I am therefore please to announce the following changes in IST:
- Chris Rushton has been promoted to Engineering Manager. In this role he will be taking the technical and commercial lead on test machine production and test rig development.
- He will be supported in this role by Alan Jellis who is our Workshop Technician, and by IST's newest recruit, Ameya Bansod, who will be taking the lead on electronic build.
- Mike Bayliss, our Senior Design Engineer, will be concentrating on the design and development of our world class range of test machines; this project work means that he will no longer take the commercial lead on our existing range.

IST is pleased to announce that the Membership Directory for March 2011 has been finalised and published. Existing members should receive a copy of the IST Directory shortly within their renewal pack and new members will receive their IST Directory shortly. You can also view a live copy of the Directory. The UKSMA announces new President and Vice-President
The UKSMA has a strong heritage in providing unrivalled knowledge and services to its members, who are all very passionate about the spring industry. Our Council is elected from within our membership and in July 2010 we elected our current President, Steven Boyd, of G&O Springs, and our current Vice President, John Clifford, of Clifford Springs. With over 65 member companies, we actively promote the industry, its products and our members.

New UKSMA Website launched
In line with some of the recent and forthcoming changes to the UKSMA (UK Spring Manufacturers' Association), we have re-launched an updated website. As well as providing a new look and feel, the interface between customer and supplier has now been streamlined. This makes it much easier to find a springmaker that can provide you with the springs you need. You can browse a list of our Member companies, search by location or on a map, or use our fully interactive search to find a list of companies matching your requirements.
