The
Institute of Spring Technology is a unique centre of excellence dedicated to the
research, development and problem solving for the spring industry
supply chain. We undertake a wide ranging programme of co-operative research in
our EN ISO 9001 and BS EN ISO 17025 (UKAS) accredited
laboratories, and offer a variety products & services including; Machinery
Design & Building, Failure Investigation & Prevention, Materials &
Mechanical Testing, Load and Fatigue Testing, Shot Peening &
Consumables, Technical Software, Spring Design Consultancy and Training.
We are primarily a Membership based organisation, although we also carry out
work and provide products & services to Non Members. Members of the
Institute receive all products and services at a discounted rate, as well as a
free technical advice helpline covering a wide range of topics from
manufacturing to materials.
ENGINEER
SALARY £20 – £26k
depending upon experience and qualifications.
A vacancy has arisen for a “hands on” Engineer to work in our spring testing
machine manufacturing area. Primary tasks will be:-
1. Building test machines.
2. Writing and modification of test machine control software.
3. Design of test machines.
4. Commissioning, calibration, maintenance and repair of test machines.
Applicants should ideally be degree qualified in control engineering,
electronics, or mechanical engineering, and should have an understanding of
programming languages such as VB6 and VB.Net.
As experience is gained the successful candidate will be expected to gradually
take on design of new machines and participate in quotations to customers, and
ultimately to run this section.
